Hello friends! It is the time for planting perennials and Trees/shrubs. After a long hot, dry summer, we are finally into some great planting weather. There are a few reasons why planting later in the season is so healthy for plants! The obvious reason is that the cool temps are much less stressful on the new plants than the heat. In addition to the stress level, the cooler temps are also when fungus and pests tend to be less active, meaning your plant has fewer difficulties to deal with. Lastly, the ground tends to hold moisture better than in the mid-season heat.
At Otten Bros., we have a lot of great products to help you with your plantings, and my humans and I are happy to assist in any way possible! The two most important products are our Natural Guard Organic Garden Soil and Ferti-lome Root Stimulator Fertilizer. The garden soil should be mixed with the Native soil to help amend the area and create ideal conditions for growing. The Root Stimulator should be used at planting and every 2 weeks thereafter. This product contains a special blend of nutrients that are designed to encourage root growth. Because we believe in these two products so much, we will extend the warranty on perennials, trees or shrubs from one year to two years when you buy them with Natural Guard Organic Garden Soil and Ferti-lome Root Stimulator.
In addition to these products, we have a great selection of shovels, gloves, soil amendments, specialized fertilizers, Animal repellents and many more items to help make your late season planting a huge success. My humans are very knowledgeable on these products and are happy to help!
The planting tools are only as good as the plant itself, and my humans have the best plants around! We have a great selection of sunny, and shady perennials, trees, and shrubs to choose from.
Being a cat, I am extremely lazy. I don’t like to add strenuous work to my already full schedule of napping, eating, and walking around. If you’re like me, you probably don’t want to be planting trees on your own. Luckily, my humans operate a full-service landscape department, and they would be happy to do the planting for you!
