Hello Furiends!

One thing I keep hearing my humans talk about is how important it is to keep watering your lawns, perennials, trees, shrubs, and evergreens through fall. I’m here to give you the purrfect advice about watering!

Fall is prime time for root growth for perennials, trees, and shrubs. After spending the last several months putting all their energy into producing leaves & flowers, they then transfer all that energy into their root systems this time of the year.

Winterize your lawn, perennials, trees, evergreens, and shrubs by properly watering them well into fall. This means watering until the ground freezes. Most plants – even established or mature ones – need an inch of water per week. So many people are tempted to shut off their outside water connection too early.

Plants that start winter in a water deficit, may survive until spring, but could have browning needles, branch and leader dieback, and insect and disease problems. Sometimes winter damage can kill plants entirely.

Take advantage of the season by also applying Ferti-lome Winterizer Fertilizer, which is formulated to help your lawn, trees and shrubs withstand the hazards of a cold winter. It helps build their root systems making them stronger and healthier.
